Jimmy A. Powell, aged 72 of Rockwell, NC passed away February 7, 2025 at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. He was born February 27, 1952 in Concord, NC. His is the son of the late Thomas D. Powell and Viola Simpson Powell. A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 noon on February 12, 2025 at the Universal House of Prayer, 2999 Eva Dr. Concord, NC with the Reverend Rand Lefler officiating.

Kind-hearted and easy-going, Jimmy always made time to help family and friends in the time of need. Jimmy considered himself fortunate to work side-by-side with his dear brother, Danny, in construction for most of his working life. He retired from Luwa Bahnson Heating and Air Conditioning. Jimmy loved history, Western movies and Fox News. In his later years, he enjoyed collecting, shopping at flea markets and at his favorite store, Treasure Hunters. His daughter often teased, my dad has “gadgets and gizmos-a-plenty, whozits, whatzits and thingamabobs galore.”

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Marilyn Sutton Powell, brother, Danny Powell, brother, Jerry Kirk and Sister, Nancy Powell Brown.

Left to cherish his memory are Son, Jason (Starla) Powell, Daughter, Bonnie Godfrey, Granddaughter, Madison Godfrey, Grandson, Malachi Godfrey all from Rockwell, NC, sister, Joanne (Jerry) Rowe, Lexington, NC and sister Bonnie (Eldon) Woodie, Pelham, AL
