Brenda Joyce Higdon Lovelace, 80, passed away peacefully in her home on November 2, 2024. She was surrounded by family and is at peace after a lengthy battle with Dementia.
Brenda was born April 21, 1944, in Waynesville, NC, to the late Thomas Bragg and Otelia Hasket Higdon. She met the love of her life, David William Lovelace, on a blind date. They were soon married and started their life together as a career Air Force couple. Their son, David Dwayne Lovelace, was born in Palatka, FL. Three years later their daughter, Tina Lovelace Piephoff, was born while stationed in Washington D.C. Brenda loved the adventures of being an Air Force wife and the many friends they made along the way. After retirement from the service, Brenda and David moved back to their roots and family in North Carolina. Brenda and David celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed away in 2010. They enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially teaching the game of dominos to their three granddaughters, Ashley Lovelace Wooten, Caroline Crisman Piephoff and Sarah Grace Piephoff.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Otelia Higdon, husband of 50 years, David William Lovelace; second husband, Hal Phillips; and her middle brother, Thomas Higdon.
She is survived by her two children, David Dwayne Lovelace (Cindy Baker Lovelace) and Tina Lovelace Piephoff (Crisman Sydnor Piephoff); brother, Phillip Higdon; three granddaughters, Ashley Lovelace Wooten (Logan Russell Wooten), Caroline Crisman Piephoff, Sarah Grace Piephoff; two great grandchildren; and many loved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM on November 23, 2024 at Higdonville, Baptist Church in Franklin, NC.
